This French region is at once historic, modern, romantic, intellectual, grandiose and elegantly understated.
Known for its colour, lavender fields, sun flowers and fine wine has attracted so many artists due to its spectacular light. This special light was partly the reason why a group of 19th century artists, known as the Impressionists, made this area their playground of the brush!

Fontaine de Vaucluse, which means “closed valley”, is a charming village and is one of the most visited places in the region of Vaucluse. This is mainly due to its magnificent surroundings and impressive spring which flows out of the 230m high cliff. The source is the most powerful in France and fifth in the world. The 14th century Italian poet Petrarch spent time in the village as he wrote love poetry for his great love Laura, who lived nearby. (he is known to be one of the fathers of the Italian language).
The course will take place either in charming Fontaine de Vaucluse with accommodation in a quaint hotel whereby classes take place next door in a set up studio, or in a privately-owned country inn (4 star) located on the top of a hill which overlooks the Tuscan country site.
